Awkwafina

American actor and musician Awkwafina made her debut with humorous lyrics that tackled issues of racial identity and sexuality with an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Korean immigrants living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first encounter with music was through the instrument of trumpet. She also received Jazz and classical training before becoming a hip-hop teenager. In college she studied Women's Studies and Journalism. It was also during this time that she spent an hour studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. However, it wasn't until she graduated that she switched her focus on music. After making headlines via the Internet, her track My Vag was a reaction to the song of Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually appeared on the album she released, Yellow Ranger. The album also featured viral hits like the body-positive Queef as well as the wink-inducing hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly to another project, Awkwafina's NYC guide to traveling published in 2015. The singer decided to pursue a career as an actor after having completed her two previous projects, as an author and musician. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors as well as Storks. In 2018, she was able to land breakthrough role in a few famous films such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. Her debut EP,"At Fina We Trust in June of that year.
